President Bola Tinubu has faced criticism from Timothy Osadolor, a member of the National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for his decision to remove subsidy on Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as fuel.
Osadolor, who also serves as the Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, called on the President to apologize to Nigerians for the hardships they endured during the eight-year tenure of former President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).
In a statement released on Monday night and signed by Osadolor, the PDP leader expressed concern about the state of the nation on May 29, 2023, the day power was transferred. He highlighted the mixed emotions among Nigerians, unsure whether to cry, grieve, breathe a sigh of relief, or be happy.
Osadolor criticized Tinubu for recklessly dismissing fuel subsidies without providing a framework. He pointed out that the consequences were already visible, with long queues forming at filling stations and many dealers forced to close their businesses due to the uncertainty surrounding Tinubu’s statement.
